Phyterra is committed to cultivating sustainable cannabis using regenerative horticultural practices. Our goal is to pioneer a business model that integrates sustainability across the entire value chain within New Zealand’s medicinal cannabis industry. At our outdoor site, we are committed to working closely with local partners to implement regenerative practices that support both the land and the surrounding environment. Cultivating hemp offers significant environmental benefits, including rapid growth, efficient carbon absorption, and low resource requirements compared to many traditional crops.
Hemp is known for its ability to grow quickly while absorbing carbon dioxide during photosynthesis and releasing oxygen back into the atmosphere. It can thrive in nutrient-poor soils with minimal water and without the need for herbicides or heavy fertilisers, making it a highly efficient crop from a sustainability perspective.
Looking ahead, we will continue to collaborate with sustainability experts and land partners to ensure our practices deliver positive outcomes for both people and the planet.
